About the Artist
Freda Santonato grew up in England, where from a young age she enjoyed drawing and painting.
In 1958 she emigrated to Canada with her parents and siblings. In 1967 she took some oil painting lessons with a group, but it was after her retirement that she was able to devote time to painting and various crafts.
During COVID, when she could no longer do volunteer work, she had time to pursue her hobby of painting. She now prefers to paint in acrylic and watercolour.
The name Dandelion Design Art pays homage to her mother, a great gardener and lover of nature who said that the dandelion was the most misunderstood flower.
Freda now lives on a heritage farm in Puslinch, Ontario, with her daughter, Elizabeth, and their little dog, Paris.
